Re-Designing My Halloween Costume

There is no secret everyone by now knows from reading my Floral Dress Blog post, that I can sew. My skills are great when I really need them hahahaha! ;) I was not really planning on sewing this year because last year I was so caught up on making my Katy Perry Costume which turned out great!! I really wanted a break hahaha but its like destiny forces me to test my skills all the time. It so happens that this year I came across a Dorothy Costume from the Wizard of Oz. It was only 5 dollars. I was so convinced it would fit, but it was so short and tight; this was not a problem to me because I know how to make garments fit but draping the pieces I need and sewing it all together! :D
After getting the costume from a private vender I went to Walmart, there I bought some inexpensive cotton fabric and sheer fabric to make the dress puffy! Once I returned home I started on my alterations by adding a waist band and 7 inches to both side seams. I cut the sheer a little longer to hid some butt that was peaking out from the back lol
With only a couple hours of work and a little bit of lace trim I embellished the garment it came out so great!!! More importantly it fit like a glove :) paired with red shoes and red bows I was Dorothy for Halloween! I ended that night by going to the West Hollywood Costume Carnival, first time going and it was so much fun especially with all my friends. Did I mention how much I love California?? lol Well I hope everyone Likes this little project I did at the last minute and if anyone knows the basics of sewing I encourage everyone to better their skills! It makes life a whole lot easier when you can fix your own clothes! :)

My Fav Fall Closet Inspired Outfits #2

Out with your Spring clothes and in with the fall. I had to go out this week and explore what all is new at the Mall. Denim and knit is whats Trending!! Long sleeve button ups with collars, the ones that your guy friends wear ^w^ which I think is very cute. Long cardigans with chevron prints are everywhere in forever 21. All these new trends inspired me to create a new look that many of you fashion lovers can make your own.
I really love this look :) it was cozy and warm for a semi-cold day. I'm sure many would like this look as well. I'm obsessed with the chevron cardigan its great for my casual outfits.
Here are some close ups to my items I wore. I'm going to share with all of you how anyone can get this same look by breaking down every item I wore that day!
This outfit for me started with a denim button up shirt as my canvas. Since the one I have was straight down it didn't compliment my curves so for all the curvy women out there wearing a belt to cinch the waste is a good accessory especially since a cardigan is going over this top/dress!
My belt was black, but this outfit is made up of muted color's like Blacks, whites, and browns so either way works! :) The chevron cardigan I picked out is just an example there were many different kinds of prints and styles, the choice is up to you!
Try finding a long button up shirt that you can wear like a dress and pair with some black leggings. Leggings are warm and are great to pair with the denim. Jeans wouldn't of worked out as great, there would of been a clash of the same fabric. Some people say its good to match, but it's even better to show some personal style!

Lastly shoes and your final accessory! I love wearing heels and a low boot heal is the best :) To go with the Native America style Fringe is the best to pair with the chevron printed cardigan. Since the belt serves as a accessory you might want to go a little mild on your necklaces, I picked a small rhinestone incrusted owl its very simple for this look which I didn't want to go over the top! :) I hope everyone loves this look and can maybe take some inspiration and create a unique style for this fall season, if anyone wants to know more on the Native American fashion influence visit this link! Saying Bye to Summer

Yes it had to come to an end..... I don't know about other countries or states, but summer is at its end here in southern California. Just when I was embracing sleeveless shirts and low cut shorts. Most importantly tanning because the winter season turns you into a ghost and I was so desperate about getting a beautiful color! So walking and going to the beach is what I did!
Santa Monica Beach was fun on the fourth of July a little cold in the morning, but when it hit 10 or 11 am the sun came out and there was my opportunity to tan!! I also went to downtown Long Beach  to watch the fireworks it was wonderful. That wasn't my only visit to Santa Monica. Later that month I went to the beach with My husband :)
It was 6 months since we've seen each other so I was very excited! He's in the US Army so its all long distance all the time, but I'm very happy with him!<3 This was our first trip together to the beach, aside from getting sunburn and losing his Ray Bands we had a good time! Traffic was bad though, but that's LA lol I can't complain I love this state!
I was very lucky to spend my birthday with my husband as well I haven't had that opportunity with him ever!! We went to Hollywood and walked around the Grove Ave. Had our first cheese cake form The Cheese Cake Factory!! Walked the Hollywood Blvd and took pictures of the Stars and had lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant<3
Eventually he had to leave :( but that was the best birthday I have ever had!! Probably because I spent my time with him! <3 Well at first I thought it was gonna be a lonely rest of my summer, but I was wrong my love came to visit again for a week! He's being deployed very soon so he was granted a week of leave. Its Bitter sweet. I wasted no time I put everything on hold and planned every day into an adventure!! The first thing was going to the Getty Museum :)
The Getty was so nice to visit! Yes I wore my bomb a** wedges that entire day because their Fabulous! Everyday was a new trip and a new experience! A trip to North Ridge and Valencia <3 Movie date nights anything I can come up with. This was seriously the best summer I have ever had because I was able to spend it with the person who completes my world (I only see him once or twice a year so don't judge). lol Now winters coming and I say goodbye to his presence. I can only hope for a happy future and a new beginning next year because from here on out everything going by fast. I hope everyone's summer was as amazing as mine!! :)

My Fav Fall Closet Inspired Outfits #1

Who else is happy that fall is here?? well I am :) even though I really loved summer you can't go wrong with fall fashionable looks! The wind and rain is on its way so I say if your gonna wear a sweater let it be a cute one. Some people are conformed with sweat pants and a hoodie, but not me so what I've done is go in my closet and dig up something cute and warm to wear.
Even though it looks like I'm barely covered I was actually warm lol My friends Think I'm Crazy, I just like to think I'm different so I choose not to dress like others. I like wearing different textures and prints even accessories. I don't like a naked neck, but since it was pretty cold that day I wore an Infinity scarf I made out of some stretch knit fabric. I'll be talking about each piece for this outfit, I hope you like the look!

With most of my outfits I always start with a White or Black canvas (I mean tank top) lol I know with my top picture I have a clear blouse with small polka dots, but I really like these big ones they make the center pop instead of blending in.

Since this topic is about the fall you can't go out without a sweater or a warm cardigan! Mine is a little longer, but I really think the one for the picture is really cute. It has a different texture and with large pieces of sequins that reflect light it stands out! Fall is about wearing layers, but I didn't want to feel stuffy so I put on a thin grey cardigan to go under my statement cardigan. As you can see I don't like matching lol so to finish the top part of my garment I wore a infinity scarf I made, but you can wear it in any texture for example the pink crochet infinity scarf above looks very warm.
Now to finish my Outfit #1 I always like to wear some black jeans and I prefer tight and skinny. They make my legs slender and keeps the warmth in! For my shoes I have my own Black studded boots like these which are very stylish, I know most girls don't wear heels, but I believe if you can find a good sized heel not too high they can be very comfortable!! I'm 5''8 pretty average for a girl, but not too short :) I like a little more height lol So I hope everyone likes this Look and remember if you ever wanna wear something like this you can always mix it up and add your own personal style!
